Shigeru Miyamoto

Shigeru Miyamoto (宮本 茂, literally "The origin of the lush palace") is  videogame designer and producer who has worked for Nintendo since 1977. He is considerated as "The father of modern videogames" or "The Walt Disney of electronic games", he has made some of the most important videogames of all times, some examples are Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin and Star Fox.

 Miyamoto was born in the Japanese town of Sonobe, a rural town northwest of Kyoto on November 16, 1952. His parents were of modest means.

Miyamoto graduated from Kanazawa Municipal College of Industrial Arts. Miyamoto was hired in 1977 by Nintendo as an apprentice in the planning department.For his first game Miyamoto imagined a love triangle between a gorilla, a carpenter and a girl (Based on Bluto, Popeye and Olivia) "Donkey Kong" was the first success of Miyamoto.

In the year 2012 Miyamoto won the Prince of Asturias award in the category of communications and humanities. Miyamoto maintains an active role at Nintendo , developing several projects at the time. He is considering retirement and has been preparing Nintendo for the time when he no longer works for the company . As part of this but more generally as a way to prepare Nintendo, he has encouraged younger developers to take on more responsibilities.
